First, if you have a total of sixteen, it is a good idea to hit. It may seem risky, with the probability of higher value cards showing to throw you over, often way over, but it is also likely you can get a smaller value card. Getting a five will put you at twenty one, and a four, three, two or ace is also better than staying with just a hand of sixteen. It seems risky, but it is often worth the risk to win.

Second, if the dealer has an ace, and offers the players the opportunity to place insurance bets, it is only a wise idea to take this opportunity if you have a hand that is nineteen or higher. Buying any lower than a hand worth nineteen is a quick, and sure fire way to blow your money.
